Ravi Bala, Chair, Director, and President
Ravi Bala is the Co-Founder and EVP of Marketing/Product Development at HealthSignals, LLC, a leader in technology solutions for better senior living. An innovator and an expert in mobile health and digital strategy, he has a successful track record of creating and managing teams of independent thinkers.
He has a tenacious dedication to compassion and dignity in the workplace. He is a teacher, a mentor, and a coach at heart and works with many startup ventures as an advisor.
In his copious free time, he creates and actively manages online community initiatives in education and youth development. He was a Board member of the Startup Corps – Bringing the Entrepreneurship Experience to Teens, and a mentor to Temple and Drexel university student entrepreneurs. He wants to be bracketed by the terms “Compassionate Service” and “Fanatical Implementation of Common Sense.”
He has been a coach and mentor at over a dozen startup events and occasionally teaches courses in Digital Strategy at the Temple Fox School of Business. He is also passionately dedicated to Akshaya Patra, a nonprofit that provides midday meals to 1.7 million school children in India—feeding one child for fifteen dollars for an entire year!
Jaki Nesbitt, Director
Jaki Nesbitt is Associate Counsel at the Vanguard Group, Inc., providing legal and regulatory support to Vanguard's retail trust and fiduciary business. She has taught numerous seminars for the legal community on topics including “Planning for the Modern Family,” “Cultural Sensitivity with Diverse Prospects and Clients,” “Women as CFO of the Family,” and “Philanthropy for the Kitchen Table.” Jaki has written about wealth planning for unmarried couples, same-sex couples, and blended families. She has also written about philanthropy and the intersection of wealth and values for the American family.
Prior to joining Capital for Good, Jaki served as Secretary of the Board and member of the Finance Committee of the Delaware Valley Legacy Fund, a non-profit serving the LGBTQ community and dedicated to encouraging local philanthropy by providing funding guidance for a donor advised fund within the Philadelphia Foundation. Jaki is an executive board member for the Philadelphia Bar Association Probate Section. She earned a B.A. in Clinical Psychology from Cedarville University and a Juris Doctor and Tax LL.M. from Temple University Beasley School of Law.
JoAnn Flett, Director
JoAnn Flett is a Senior Lecturer in Management and directs the MBA in Social Impact at Eastern University. She teaches courses in Managerial Accounting, Social Entrepreneurship, and Theology of Business. A native of Trinidad and Tobago, Ms. Flett has over twenty years of senior level accounting and finance experience. JoAnn’s research focuses on the role of business in society. She is interested in business that combines social mission and market activities to maximize systemic change for society’s most vulnerable. Her doctoral work explores the innovative work of Certified B-Corporation companies. JoAnn serves on the board of directors for Broad Street Ministry—a nonprofit dedicated to providing radical hospitality to the most vulnerable Philadelphians—and the Accord Network, a member agency for 90+ international development organizations. She also serves in an advisory capacity for Initiate Australia and Everence Financial in Philadelphia.
Karen Robinson, Director, Treasurer & Secretary
Karen Robinson brings more than two decades of experience in finance and human resources management to the role of Treasurer for Capital for Good. Karen provides leadership and strategic development to Geneva Global, a philanthropic consulting firm, in the role of Chief Financial Officer. During her tenure, Karen has overseen Geneva Global’s finances, human resources, and operations. She has created stability and security for an established, yet newly-owned and re-organized small business. Prior to joining Geneva, Karen served as Vice President of Finance and Human Resources for Charlotte, North Carolina based Global Linking Solutions, Inc. (GLS) a data network managed services provider. At GLS, Karen oversaw all aspects of finance, accounting, banking, insurance, legal, and human resources for the rapidly growing company. Karen also worked for more than a decade in commercial banking, focusing on financial audit and commercial lending to corporate, trade finance, asset based, and small business clients. Karen holds an MBA from Villanova University in Pennsylvania and a BS in Accounting from the University of Richmond.
Madeleine Champion, Director
Madeleine Champion is CEO of Champion Global Advisors, LLC, a consulting firm providing advisory on expansion into emerging markets. Madeleine serves as a director on the board of Fresh Del Monte Produce, Inc; she is a former director of Citizens Republic Bancorp (CRBC); she was elected to CRBC by the US Treasury under their Capital Purchase Program. She has more than 25 years of leadership experience in financial services, specializing in emerging markets, including responsibilities at JPMorgan Chase, Banc One Capital Markets, CoreStates, and Fidelity Bank. Fluent in Spanish, French, and Portuguese, Madeleine is a graduate of the London School of Economics, with an MA from University College, London, and an MBA from the Wharton Business School. She has served on various boards, including as President of the Bankers’ Association for Finance and Trade and of the Chilean-American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Philadelphia, and Commissioner on the board of the Port of Philadelphia and Camden; she is a Trustee of the Center for Economic Development.
Leslie Swope, Director
Leslie Swope has over thirty years of experience in marketing, sales and finance in the pharmaceutical, consulting, cable and chemical industries. Her most recent experience as a global Marketing Director in Pharmaceuticals includes focusing on emerging brands and in line products across the world. She has led cross functional teams as well as worked collaboratively with alliances to ensure alignment. She brings strong leadership skills in product management, brand communications and market research with focus on innovation and results. Leslie holds a BS in Commerce from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
